Regenerative thinking since 1984.
Hey, I’m Timppa,
I was born in 1984 and I was already a nature lover as a child. I lived in Turenki, Southern Finland, and I have particularly great memories of summers at a cottage.
My own interest in the circular economy started as a child. In the 90s there was a deep recession in Finland. One thing in my childhood memories stood our above others: with my family we went to flea markets every weekend and I learned that not everything has to be new. Visiting the flea markets in Southern Finland were among my best childhood experiences.
When I later entered the business career, I realized how broken this system actually is. The consumption model based on the linear economy is by no means optimal and creates enormous problems. In fact it destroys not only the environment but also makes everyone of us poor.
We have a structural problem here. Manufacturing, selling and repairing durable goods is not as profitable as selling scrap, fast fashion or disposable goods. We have built a stupid system that needs to change.
When I realized this problem about 10 years ago, I decided that I wanted to make second hand a real alternative to buying new, and I've been working in the circular economy ever since.
The change must first of all take place in the system, but also for businesses to build on the circular economy and for people's thinking and routines to support the regenerative economy.
We need a functioning circular economy. That's why I'm here.
Join this journey. You won’t regret it.
